"Yeah I mean the gates are always open, sometimes we might have some of the kids down the road they might come here and jump on the playground and they will just text me and say Karla I'm here playing and this is what this place is about, a really safe environment that we can bring our kids here to."

Karla Gamble (Ngāi Tahu – Ngāti Huikai) works for Ngāi Tahu Farming in Eyrewell, North Canterbury. She manages Kōkōmuka lodge which is used by Ngāi Tahu Farming staff to hold internal and external hui (meetings), to run training courses and to host community events. Karla’s day-to-day work centres around looking after manuhiri (visitors) while they are at the lodge.
