"Well it's a pretty good job, I have to say, I get to watch other people do the work now I don't have to do it myself, general overseeing of quite a bit of programme of work we do annually." 

Chris Calder works for Ngāi Tahu Farming on the West Coast in the forestry team. He is the operations manager which involves managing and overseeing the work of those planting and preparing the forestry right up to the harvesting side of the business. He left school at 16 years old and following in his fathers' footsteps he went into the forestry industry.
