Wairarapa

"A lot of what my job is planning, making sure the beekeepers know what they're doing, have the right equipment, making sure that there are enough hands to do the job. But planning is crucial to the role, knowing what you're doing and when."

Brendan Strachan works for OHA Honey in the Wairarapa. Brendan studied a Bachelor of Science in Geography at Otago University and after finishing his studies he moved home where he was offered a job in the honey industry. Brendon started as an apprentice beekeeper, graduated and became a beekeeper for a few years, and he is now the Wairarapa Apiary Manager where he oversees the work of all of the crews working in the region.
